The House of Poetry in Marrakech is organizing the seventh edition of the Moroccan Poetry Festival from October 10 to 12 in the “Red City,” with China as the guest of honor.

A statement from the House of Poetry noted that this festival embodies the depth of cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the Department of Culture in the Sharjah Government, United Arab Emirates. It celebrates Morocco’s linguistic diversity and cultural richness, as well as the generations and experiences of Moroccan poetry.

The same source emphasized that the Moroccan Poetry Festival is an annual event dedicated to a cultural and poetic tradition that honors the various generations, experiences, and sensitivities within Moroccan poetry. It serves as a significant annual cultural moment that opens a new cultural season for the House of Poetry in Marrakech, striving to continue a series of initiatives and programs that promote Morocco’s linguistic diversity and cultural variety, alongside the flourishing tree of Moroccan poetry that embraces modern poetic sensibilities and experiences.

This year’s festival aims to establish a deeper identity, creating an actual space for dialogue and reflecting the rich interplay among the experiences and generations of Moroccan poetry through a diverse programming that resonates with contemporary themes.

The event will feature the participation of poets, artists, and critics from various generations and regions of the Kingdom, representing Morocco’s linguistic and cultural vibrancy (including Modern Standard Arabic, Amazigh, and Hassaniya) alongside Chinese poet Liu Jintze, a member of the Chinese Writers’ Association.

The activities of the seventh edition of the festival will include honoring poet Mohammed Boujbeir, poet and artist Ali Schouhad, and researcher Aziza Akida, as well as awarding prizes for the best poem and poetic criticism to young poets and critics. Additionally, a dialogue forum on the topic of “Poetry from the Perspective of Cultural Criticism” will be organized, involving critics and researchers, along with poetry readings in the “Contemporary Voices” segment.
