The Minister of National Education, Early Education, and Sports stated in a media interview that the ministry is moving towards revising the age requirement for recruitment exams for academy staff, prior to the official announcement of the next exam.

The minister explained that the discussion regarding the legal age is still open, adding that the ministry is considering “potential amendments that take into account the principle of equality of opportunity and respond to the aspirations of a large segment of youth wishing to enter the education sector.”

This stance comes at a time when thousands of candidates are awaiting the announcement of the new exam, amidst calls to ease the age limit that in previous years has been set at a maximum of 30 years. They argue that this restriction deprives many degree holders of employment opportunities in the public sector.

The ministry is expected to reveal the final version of the participation conditions in the coming weeks, as discussions continue between the government and educational stakeholders about ways to attract young talent to the teaching profession.
