The German Federal Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises has taken a new step to strengthen its presence in Africa by inaugurating its office in Morocco today, Friday, in the presence of the Minister Delegate for Investment, Karim Zidan, and the General Director of the Federation, Christoph Ahlhaus.
This initiative aims to enhance economic relations between Morocco and Germany and to encourage the establishment and development of German small and medium enterprises in the kingdom. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), focusing on supporting joint industrial and economic integration.
The Federation’s office in Rabat will foster sustainable partnerships in the fields of industry, education, vocational training, job creation, and innovation, contributing to the development of trade and cultural exchanges between Morocco and Germany and the execution of joint projects across Africa.
In his speech, Christoph Ahlhaus emphasized that the office is a fundamental step to deepen economic relations with German and European small and medium enterprises, underscoring that these businesses are the lifeblood of the European economy, represented by 34 associations roughly employing more than 20 million people.
He noted that Morocco has become a favored destination for European investors, thanks to free trade and preferential agreements that have enabled the kingdom to attract major investors like Renault and Stellantis, making it the top exporter of cars and spare parts to Europe in 2024, surpassing China and Japan.
Ahlhaus explained that the mission of the Rabat office is to support the stability of enterprises in Morocco, transfer expertise and technologies, and promote a modern cooperation model focused on business.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Federation signed memoranda of understanding with the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development and the German Agency for International Cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to building sustainable and integrated economic cooperation.
