The German Embassy in Rabat honors prominent figures with the Morocco-Germany Friendship Award 2025

In the context of strengthening Moroccan-German cooperation, which has seen growing dynamism in recent years across economic, scientific, and cultural levels, Rabat hosted an official ceremony on Thursday, October 2nd, to present the Morocco-Germany Friendship Award 2025 at the residence of the German Ambassador.

This award is given annually to distinguished individuals who have contributed to reinforcing the partnership between the two countries. This year’s award went to Lamia El Ghaouti, Director of the National Institute of Agricultural Research, in recognition of her role in supporting cooperation in agricultural research and sustainable agriculture, particularly through her contribution to the Moroccan-German Agricultural and Forestry Technical Dialogue Project (DIAF). The award was also bestowed upon Mazen Sawwan, the former president of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco, for his efforts in strengthening bilateral economic relations and supporting German investments in the Kingdom, which have created over 35,000 job opportunities.

The ceremony was attended by Martina Ingelhart-Kopf, Parliamentary Secretary at the German Ministry of Agriculture, as part of an official delegation participating in the inaugural meeting of the Moroccan-German Group working in the fields of agriculture and food.

The German Ambassador in Rabat, Robert Dolger, emphasized that the award embodies “two fundamental pillars of Moroccan-German friendship,” referring to scientific research and agricultural cooperation on one hand, and business and investment on the other, highlighting that this recognition reflects a shared desire to enhance the partnership on various levels.

It is worth mentioning that the Morocco-Germany Friendship Award represents an annual occasion to celebrate individuals who have contributed to developing bilateral relations in the fields of economy, science, culture, and education, reflecting the strength of the historical ties and the new dynamism characterizing the relations between the two countries.
