The local authorities in the Inzegane – Ait Melloul region reported that royal gendarmerie forces in Qlaya had to use their service weapons in self-defense to repel a violent attack targeting their center in the area this Wednesday evening.

According to initial information, groups of individuals launched an assault on the center, throwing stones in an attempt to break in. Law enforcement initially responded to these actions with tear gas.

However, the attackers, bolstered by a large number of armed individuals, managed to invade the center, taking control of a vehicle and four motorcycles belonging to the gendarmerie. They then set the vehicle and part of the building on fire while attempting to seize ammunition, equipment, and service weapons.

Given the seriousness of the situation, the royal gendarmerie had to resort to their service weapons for self-defense, resulting in the deaths of two individuals due to gunshot wounds, while others were injured during the attack.

Relevant authorities have launched a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor to uncover the circumstances surrounding these events, identify all those involved, and initiate the necessary legal proceedings.
