The Casablanca derby will take place as scheduled at the Mohammed V Stadium before the launch of the “Dounor” maintenance.
The National Professional Football League announced yesterday, Monday, that the official date for the Casablanca derby between traditional rivals Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca is set for Tuesday, October 29, 2025, at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.
Confirmation of the match taking place at the “Dounor” stadium came after the decision to keep it open for local matches, contrary to previous plans for its closure due to maintenance and technical improvements in preparation for hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The league confirmed in its statement that scheduling the derby at this time and place indicates that the closure process will be postponed until after the official handover of the facility to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), within the framework of the organizational preparations for the upcoming continental tournament.
This football summit occurs under special circumstances for both teams, as Raja Casablanca seeks to confirm its strong start this season, while Wydad Casablanca aims to regain its balance and secure a morale-boosting victory to restore confidence among its fans.
A significant fan turnout is expected for the derby, as always, amid strict organizational and security measures given the importance and sensitivity of the match in the battle for supremacy in the Moroccan professional league.
