Court of Appeal Sentences A Student to Life Imprisonment for Killing His Teacher in Errachidia

In a decision reaffirming the Moroccan judiciary’s stern stance against violence directed at educational staff, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Errachidia has sentenced the student involved in the murder of his French teacher in Errachidia to life imprisonment.

This ruling came after the public prosecutor’s office and civil plaintiffs appealed the initial sentence, which had imposed a 30-year prison term on the accused. The appellate court decided to overturn this verdict and enhance the penalty to life imprisonment, convinced of the validity of the charges against the perpetrator.

The incident traces back to when the 21-year-old student attacked his teacher in a public street with a sharp object, causing severe injuries that led to her death. He was apprehended by the police in Errachidia shortly after committing the act.
