Tangier: Authorities Foil Smuggling of 33 Kilograms of Cocaine in a Refrigerated Container from South America
On the evening of Saturday, October 4, police at the Tangier Med Port, in coordination with the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance, thwarted an international smuggling operation involving a total of 33 kilograms of raw cocaine. The drugs were concealed within a container intended for international freight.
The security inspection and monitoring of the container, which had arrived from a port in South America and was destined for a port in an Arab country, resulted in the discovery of sheets of narcotics tightly packed inside the container’s cooling system.
The Criminal Investigation Department in Tangier has opened an investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office to identify those involved and the local and international connections of this criminal network.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance to combat international drug smuggling networks involving controlled substances and psychotropic agents.
