Sustainable Development Strategy 2035: Towards a More Just and Resilient Morocco

Leila Benali, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, presented the National Sustainable Development Strategy (SNDD 2035) as a fundamental pillar of the new growth model in the Kingdom.

Launched in 2017 under the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this strategy serves as a reference framework aimed at integrating public policies and economic reforms into a developmental path based on sustainability and justice. It also seeks to enhance coordination between sectoral policies, ensure synergy of territorial efforts, and achieve effective implementation on the ground within the framework of a just and sustainable transition.

Benali affirmed that the new version of the strategy, which will commence implementation in 2025, relies on key transformative drivers capable of translating national aspirations into tangible impacts on citizens’ daily lives. This structural review includes six areas of transformation and five horizontal axes aimed at accelerating the transition to a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient development model.
