Spain dismantles two networks trafficking hashish in coordination with the Directorate General of National Security.
The Spanish National Police, in collaboration with the Moroccan Directorate General of National Security, announced the dismantling of two international networks specializing in hashish smuggling after an information exchange led to the identification of two suspicious convoys transporting large quantities of drugs.
The first convoy was intercepted in Sanlúcar de Barrameda in the Cádiz province, where 12 tons of hashish were hidden behind boxes of peppers. Fifteen individuals linked to the network were arrested. Three days later, authorities executed a second operation in the Granada province, resulting in the seizure of an additional 8 tons and the arrest of five more individuals, bringing the total number of arrests to 20, all of whom are in custody on charges of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization.
During the operations, nine vehicles, including trucks and trailers, an automatic weapon, and over 7,000 euros in cash were seized, reflecting the scale and precision of the drug trafficking. The Spanish police confirmed that these joint efforts demonstrate the exceptional level of security cooperation between Morocco and Spain, based on trust and effective coordination to combat transnational criminal networks.
