Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between the African Union Commission and the African Union Youth in Rabat to Enhance Cooperation on Youth Issues
The African Union Commission and the African Union Youth, headquartered in Rabat, have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and solidifying partnerships in areas related to youth empowerment and their rights across the continent.
The signing took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and the Chairperson of the African Union Youth, Diallo Momoni, in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to the African Union, Mohamed Arouchi, and officials from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication.
The memorandum acknowledges the role of the African Union Youth as the official representative of youth in the 54 African nations, establishing its position as a strategic partner for the Commission in initiatives aimed at involving youth in continental development.
During the ceremony, Moussa Faki Mahamat praised Morocco’s support and hosting of the African Union Youth headquarters, affirming that the Kingdom demonstrates its ongoing commitment to African youth issues. He added that this step represents a “historic milestone in the journey of youth empowerment, placing them at the heart of African development.”
For his part, Diallo Momoni confirmed the African Union Youth’s commitment to working hand in hand with the Commission and other stakeholders to turn the aspirations of youth into concrete initiatives that promote unity and progress on the continent.
This agreement comes as a culmination of a cooperative path between the two parties since the establishment of the African Union Youth headquarters in Rabat, supported by the Moroccan Kingdom, where the organization has conducted various programs and activities in Moroccan and African cities to enhance youth capacity and participation in development.
