Saudi Arabia has announced an unprecedented sports project involving the construction of the world’s first sky stadium in the future city of NEOM.

The stadium will rise 350 meters above ground, accommodating around 46,000 spectators and operating entirely on renewable energy. This project is part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, aimed at enhancing its sports profile, diversifying the economy away from oil, and attracting global investments.

The stadium is planned to host matches for the 2034 World Cup, forming part of the Kingdom’s strategy to develop its sports and technological infrastructure.

However, the Kingdom faces significant engineering challenges related to the building’s height, crowd safety, and service management at unprecedented elevations. The project is expected to kick off in the coming years, with completion anticipated by 2032.

This ambitious project reflects Saudi aspirations to combine sports, technology, and sustainability, setting a new model in the world of stadiums.
