The “Marhaba 2025” operation registered the crossing of more than 3.2 million passengers and nearly 739,000 vehicles through Moroccan ports from June 10 to September 15, as announced by Transport and Logistics Minister Abdel Samad Caiouh on Wednesday in Rabat.

Caiouh explained, during a meeting dedicated to evaluating the results of the marine transport segment of the operation, that these figures reflect a 7% increase in the number of passengers and a 6% increase in the number of vehicles compared to 2024. He emphasized that positive results are attributed to improved trip organization and enhanced services.

The minister noted that the ministry secured 13 maritime lines connecting four Moroccan ports (Tangier Med, Tangier City, Nador, Al Hoceima) with nine European ports, including Algeciras, Marseille, Barcelona, and Genoa, thanks to 29 ferries operated by seven shipping companies, which offer over 500 weekly trips with a capacity of up to 500,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles.

Among this year’s notable measures, Caiouh highlighted the adoption of a mandatory pre-booking system for tickets on all maritime lines, requiring travelers to possess a valid ticket for travel day to access the Tangier Med port. He considered this one of the main reasons for the operation’s success. He also praised the collaboration of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Interior, and all partners who contributed to the season’s achievements.

For his part, Amin Al-Karam, Director of Port Police at the National Ports Agency, stated that this year witnessed the operation of the new maritime station in Nador and the launch of a direct line to Marseille, which significantly boosted the flow of passengers and vehicles.

Jaafar Amiar, Director of the Tangier Med Passenger Port, confirmed that the port retained its position as the main transit hub, accommodating 1.8 million passengers and more than 463,000 vehicles, representing over half of the national transit movement.

All stakeholders agreed that close coordination among various parties, primarily the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, formed the foundation of the organizational success that characterized the “Marhaba 2025” operation.
