Private Education Under Scrutiny: The Refusal to Enroll Children with Disabilities Sparks Controversy

The Moroccan Observatory for Inclusive Education has called for the imposition of penalties on any educational institution that rejects the enrollment of students with disabilities, whether these institutions provide free services or are part of the private education sector.

In a statement regarding the draft law concerning school education, the Observatory emphasized that ensuring the right of children with disabilities to access inclusive and fair education is a fundamental right that cannot be compromised or postponed.

Furthermore, the Observatory urged the government to establish a mandatory percentage for private institutions to allocate for the enrollment of children with disabilities, thereby ensuring their full integration into the educational system.

While the Observatory praised the inclusion of the rights of students with disabilities in the draft law, it stressed the need to move from general principles to practical measures that reinforce equality and equal opportunities, given that inclusive education is a foundational pillar for achieving social and educational justice.
