Morocco Unites Efforts to Combat Corruption in the Insurance Sector Through a Partnership Between INPPLC, ACAPS, and FMA
The National Authority for Integrity, Prevention, and Fight Against Corruption (INPPLC), the Moroccan Authority for Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), and the Moroccan Insurance Association (FMA) held a consultative meeting on the topic: “Assessing Corruption Risks to Enhance Transparency in the Insurance Sector.”
During the meeting, the National Authority and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) presented the results of a study that mapped corruption risks in this sector. The study relied on international standards and included both insurance and reinsurance companies, identifying the most vulnerable areas to risk, assessing the weaknesses in procedures, and proposing practical measures for prevention. It also emphasized the need to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and adapt vigilance to face new risks.
Based on the study’s findings, participants discussed ways to prepare a sectoral action plan, focusing on enhancing internal preventative measures, training and awareness, and establishing reliable reporting mechanisms for violations. The importance of regular assessments and institutional cooperation to support companies in adopting practices compliant with international standards was also highlighted.
The meeting served as a platform for exchanging experiences on issues of transparency and governance, discussing future challenges, and identifying best practices to enhance integrity in the sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a cooperation and partnership agreement was signed between the National Authority, ACAPS, and FMA, establishing a framework to promote integrity and prevent corruption through training programs, joint seminars, awareness campaigns, and the preparation of studies and risk maps. This initiative aims to assist companies in implementing effective preventive systems and enhancing trust among stakeholders in the Moroccan insurance sector.
This initiative falls within national directions to enhance good governance and reflects Morocco’s commitment to promoting transparency and combating corruption across all economic and social fields.
