Morocco tops the list of beneficiaries of French visas in 2024

Morocco has maintained its position as one of the leading countries benefiting from French visas in 2024, according to a new report released by the French Senate. This achievement comes despite the ongoing stringent measures implemented by Paris towards Maghreb countries for several years.

The report, prepared by Senators Nathalie Goulet and Rémi Féraud for the Finance Committee, revealed that 283,023 Moroccans obtained French visas last year. This figure reflects a significant increase compared to 2023 and indicates growing confidence in the credibility of Moroccan applications.

According to the same data, the rejection rate for Moroccan applications was only 12.5%, one of the lowest rates recorded globally and well below the French average of 16.8%. This rate was also lower than that of Algeria (34.8%) and Tunisia (21.2%).

The report highlighted that the low instances of fraud in Moroccan applications compared to other countries were a key factor in this positive performance. While Algeria ranked second globally in terms of document fraud attempts (7,448 cases in 2024), Morocco was not listed among the countries with high rates in this regard, thereby reinforcing its image of reliability before French consulates.

Additionally, the document emphasized that consular cooperation between Rabat and Paris remains stable, which has helped expedite the processing of applications, particularly those related to student visas, work, and family reunification. These categories constitute the majority of visas granted to Moroccans.

The French Senate report for 2025 concludes that Morocco is the positive exception in the Maghreb region, benefiting from balanced institutional relations and effective consular cooperation, which has allowed it to maintain a distinguished status with French authorities in visa issuance.
