Morocco Places Women at the Heart of Its Digital Transformation

The Minister Delegate in Charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal Al-Falih Sghrouchni, affirmed that Morocco, under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI, has chosen a model for digital advancement rooted in inclusivity that places women at the center of its innovation drive.

In her address during the sixteenth edition of the “Economic Meetings of the Arab World Institute” held in Paris under the theme “Women, Business and Innovation,” Sghrouchni stated that Morocco’s priorities include eliminating all barriers, whether financial or technological, to empower women to play a full role at every stage of the value chain, from research and development to manufacturing, and from entrepreneurship to management.

The government official highlighted efforts to enhance women’s empowerment through digital education, expanding professional mentoring networks, and facilitating access to financing and digital infrastructure.

She also called for establishing training pathways within the Euro-Arab mobility framework to support young women’s employability and bolster cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and innovation within small and medium enterprises.

Sghrouchni recalled several tangible initiatives, including a memorandum of understanding signed with Mistral AI, a generative artificial intelligence company, aimed at accelerating research and development while enhancing digital sovereignty based on open and pragmatic foundations.

She also noted the We-Elevate program, executed in partnership with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), which provides young women with training in digitalization, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and e-commerce, alongside the launch of the Moroccan pillar “Digital for Sustainable Development” in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and various players in the digital field.

In conclusion, the minister called for strengthening cooperation between Arab and European countries, intensifying the exchange of experiences, and investing in the establishment of inclusive digital systems that leverage women as drivers of innovation and sustainable growth.

The sixteenth edition of the Arab World Institute meetings also addresses topics such as artificial intelligence, Franco-Arab cooperation in innovation, and global challenges related to cultural and creative industries, establishing this event as a key platform for economic dialogue between France and the Arab world since its inception in 2014.
