In a significant step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, two agreements were signed today, Sunday, in Amman, focusing on judicial and legal matters. The agreements aim to facilitate the exchange of legal expertise and information and to develop cooperation mechanisms between the judicial authorities in both countries, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the rule of law and combating cross-border crime.

The agreements were signed by Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and Jordanian Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni, in the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, and Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons Hicham Malati. The agreements focus on critical issues such as mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, as well as facilitating the transfer of sentenced individuals serving prison terms between the two countries.

In his speech during the signing ceremony, the Moroccan Minister of Justice emphasized that this step reflects the desire of both nations to bolster their fraternal and historical ties, and that signing these agreements contributes to the development of the judicial system and serves justice and development in both countries. For his part, the Jordanian minister affirmed that this cooperation is part of both countries’ efforts to deepen mutual bonds and build strong and sustainable legal and judicial partnerships.

These agreements represent a significant milestone in the ongoing cooperation between Morocco and Jordan, opening broad horizons for further coordination between the judicial authorities in both nations, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of crime fighting and solidifying justice in the region.
