Morocco and Benin Sign Bilateral Agreement to Update and Enhance Air Transport Services

On the sidelines of the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Morocco and Benin signed a bilateral agreement aimed at modernizing and invigorating cooperation in the field of air transport services.

The agreement was signed in Montreal by Morocco’s Ambassador to Canada, Souriya Al-Othmani, and Benin’s Ambassador to the United States, Agniola Ahomine. Its objective is to update the legal framework governing air travel between the two countries and to promote greater openness in air transport.

This agreement is part of the commitments of the Yamoussoukro Declaration aimed at liberalizing air transport in Africa, and aligns with the African Union Agenda 2063. It includes the enhancement of air safety standards, the adoption of mechanisms for dispute resolution through consultation or arbitration, in addition to exploring new prospects for cooperation between Rabat and Cotonou.

Morocco continues to reaffirm its presence on the international stage regarding air safety, sustainable development, and governance of civil aviation through its participation in the ICAO Assembly, which runs until October 3.
