Moroccan Agricultural Exports Rise by 36.8% in July and August, Exceeding 30 Billion Dirhams

Morocco’s agricultural exports increased by 36.8% during July and August 2025, surpassing 30.3 billion dirhams, indicating a recovery in the agricultural sector during the recent season.

The improvement in the added value of the agricultural sector reached 4.6% in the first half of 2025, following a decline of 4.7% the previous year, which supported the sector’s performance. Additionally, grain production during the 2024-2025 agricultural season saw a noticeable increase, reaching approximately 4.3 million quintals, compared to 3.12 million quintals in the previous season.

A report from the Ministry of Economy and Finance noted that the growth in other crops and the improvement in vegetation cover were driven by the rainfall recorded during the season. In terms of livestock, the latest census of the national herd, conducted between June 26 and August 11, 2025, indicated an overall increase in the herd to more than 32.8 million heads.

Regarding water resources, as of October 14, 2025, the filling rate of national dams stood at 32%, up from 29% during the same period last year.

Exports from the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors recorded strong growth in the first two months of the third quarter of 2025 (+36.8%), after an increase of 14.4% in the second quarter and 7.5% in the first quarter, bringing the total export value to over 30.3 billion dirhams by the end of August, an increase of 12.4% compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, coastal and artisanal fishing activities declined by 13% by the end of the first nine months of 2025, following a slight increase the previous year. This drop is primarily attributed to a 16.2% decrease in the catch of surface fish, which constitutes about 79.7% of total production. Conversely, some fishing categories showed positive results, most notably white fish (+10.9%), seaweed (+23.8%), and shellfish.

The trade value of fish catches decreased by 3.1% during the first nine months of 2025, compared to a 7.6% increase the previous year, due to declines in the value of mollusk catches by 5%, surface fish by 6.6%, and crustaceans by 2.8%.
