Marrakech’s traditional craft exports have seen a notable increase during the first nine months of 2025, rising by 11 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to a report from the Regional Directorate of Traditional Industry and Social Economy, this growth is primarily attributed to a rise in exports of jewelry, rugs, and traditional clothing, with the total value of these exports reaching 372,026,817 dirhams.
The same source indicated that the highest exporting sectors during the period from January to September this year were rugs, pottery, stone products, and wooden crafts, collectively accounting for over half of the exports from the red city.
Regarding the most exported products during the mentioned period, rugs ranked first, making up 31 percent of total exports, followed by pottery and stone products at 17 percent, and wooden crafts at 10 percent.
The report noted that exports of jewelry saw a remarkable positive development, increasing by 59 percent during the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, followed by rugs at 53 percent and traditional clothing at 31 percent.
In terms of importing markets, the United States is the primary destination for Marrakech’s traditional crafts (including rugs, pottery, stone, and wood), accounting for 46 percent of total exports during the specified period. France ranks second with 19 percent (pottery, stone, wood, and plant products), followed by Spain in third place with 6 percent (copper products, pottery, stone, and plant items).
