Marrakech Maintains Its Global Shine: Traditional Craft Exports Surge by 11% in 2025
The traditional craft industry in Marrakech has shown remarkable performance during the first nine months of 2025, with exports growing by 11% compared to the same period last year, reflecting a revival in international demand for products from the red city.
According to data from the Regional Directorate of Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy, the sector’s exports surpassed 372 million dirhams, driven by increased interest in jewelry, carpets, and traditional clothing, which are prominent symbols of Marrakech’s artisanal identity.
The report indicates that carpets, pottery, stoneware, and wooden products dominate the list of the most exported items, representing more than half of the city’s exports. Carpets continue to lead with 31%, followed by pottery and stoneware at 17%, and wooden products at 10%.
In terms of growth, exports of jewelry and ornaments saw a substantial leap of 59%, followed by carpets with a 53% increase, and traditional clothing with 31%, confirming a strong return of demand for authentically Moroccan products.
Regarding foreign markets, the United States ranked first among importers, accounting for 46% of Marrakech’s total exports, followed by France at 19% and Spain at 6%. These markets demonstrate an increasing interest in high-quality artisanal products.
