Reports full of malice and ready-made allegations.. Amnesty International continues its smear campaign against Morocco

For many years, Amnesty International has become a symbol of the politicization of human rights against Morocco, abandoning any neutrality or objectivity, and specializing in issuing malicious reports devoid of evidence and facts that serve hostile external agendas against the kingdom. Its latest statement, issued on October 6, 2025, was no exception but rather another episode in a long series of systematic campaigns based on fallacies, deception, and ready-made accusations, attempting to tarnish the image of Morocco and its security forces in the eyes of international public opinion.

In contrast, Moroccan authorities have shown full adherence to the law and respect for rights and freedoms, responsibly handling the youth protests that took place in several cities, allowing them despite not having prior permits, while considering citizens’ right to express their opinions peacefully. When some demonstrations turned into acts of vandalism and chaos, which included the burning of public and private institutions, destruction, theft, and the burning of police vehicles, the authorities intervened according to the law, detaining those involved and bringing them to justice in full respect of legal procedures—demonstrating the kingdom’s commitment to protecting social peace and public and private property.

Conversely, Amnesty International’s positions have consistently lacked credibility, repeating the same methods in every case. In June 2020, the organization randomly alleged that Morocco possessed the “Pegasus” spyware to surveil civil society activists without providing any material or technical evidence, despite repeated official correspondence from the Moroccan government requesting the organization to present all documented evidence. The organization ignored these demands, proving that it relies on preconceived allegations and does not verify the facts on the ground, rendering its reports merely a politically biased narrative lacking credibility.

The campaign did not stop there; while the organization discusses recent protests and accuses Morocco of using excessive force, the truth reveals that the kingdom allowed peaceful protests, protected participants, and only intervened to safeguard public and private property and prevent acts of violence and riots. This highlights the organization’s double standards, as it turns a blind eye to violent security practices in countries like France, Germany, and Spain, where tear gas is used, and authorities impose restrictions on illegal demonstrators without any condemnation from the organization.

Regarding the issue of Western Sahara, the organization has shown clear bias for years, ignoring the legal and political stance of the kingdom before the United Nations Security Council while adopting a policy of interfering in Moroccan judicial affairs through evaluations and preconceived judgments on related files. In all its annual reports, the organization repeats the same allegations, exploiting the human rights discourse as a cover for hidden political agendas, misleading international public opinion and damaging Morocco’s image.

Additionally, facts have proven that the organization lacks the objectivity and professionalism that any respectable human rights body is supposed to possess. Recent years have shown that its reports do not rely on concrete evidence and are based on misleading narratives and selective case choices, making it merely a political tool in the hands of those who pay more or seek to tarnish Morocco’s international reputation. Its record—from the “Pegasus” case in 2020, to selectivity in the 2022 and 2024 reports, culminating in its recent accusations during the Generation Z protests in 2025—reveals that the organization has become specialized in attacking Morocco by any means, with no regard for credibility or truth.

History clearly shows that what Amnesty International issues no longer holds genuine human rights value, but rather constitutes repetitive documents for promoting political agendas, and it is now known among the Moroccan and international public as an entity lacking objectivity, with no reliance on its issued statements or reports except to understand them as tools for political pressure.

Morocco, for its part, continues its commitment to protecting rights and freedoms and upholding the law, affirming that any protest must be within the peaceful legal framework, and that any acts of vandalism or violence will face strict legal follow-up. At the same time, the organization’s record over the years demonstrates that Amnesty has become a reference for political misinformation rather than a human rights authority, and its reports have become nothing more than a tool serving hostile agendas targeting the kingdom, without any basis or evidence that could convince the public or the international community.

The on-ground facts, compliance with the law, and the legal procedures followed in the kingdom further prove that Morocco does not need recommendations from an organization that has lost its credibility, and that every report issued by it should be read as a political tool rather than as a genuine human rights reference.
