The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has launched the first edition of the Executive Master’s Program in Intellectual Property and Innovation (MIPI). This initiative is a first of its kind in Morocco and Africa, aimed at promoting a culture of innovation and industrial property.

The program, resulting from strategic cooperation among the three institutions, aims to train a new generation of experts capable of protecting, enhancing, and managing intellectual property rights, while supporting businesses, researchers, and startups in their innovative projects.

During the launch ceremony, the Director General of OMPIC, Abdel Aziz Babiki, emphasized that “industrial property is a fundamental driver of innovation and a lever for competitiveness,” noting that this program will contribute to enhancing national and regional capabilities in a crucial area for economic and technological development.

For his part, the President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Hicham El Habti, highlighted the strategic dimension of this master’s program, which aligns with the university’s mission to provide high-quality training that meets market needs and the industrial fabric. He underscored that the collaboration between the university and OMPIC combines academic rigor with institutional expertise to serve innovation.

Meanwhile, WIPO representative Hani Aji stressed the importance of intellectual property in developing innovation ecosystems, praising the program’s African dimension, which enhances Morocco’s prominence in this field.
