King Mohammed VI: No Competition Among Projects as Long as the Goal is Unified… Development of Morocco is a Collective Responsibility
In his speech at the opening of the first session of the last legislative year of this government, His Majesty King Mohammed VI called on the nation’s representatives to embody a spirit of seriousness in their duties and to act responsibly in defending citizens’ issues and improving their living conditions. He emphasized that “development should not be a field of competition among projects, as the ultimate goal is the progress of the country and serving the citizen.”
The King stressed that fostering citizens’ awareness and introducing public initiatives, particularly those related to freedoms, is not solely the task of public authorities, but rather a shared responsibility that includes political parties, elected officials, media, and all vital forces in society.
In a clear message to various stakeholders, the King underscored the necessity of accelerating the pace of the “Ascending Morocco” by launching a new generation of local development projects that would allow everyone to benefit from the fruits of growth and embody spatial justice among different regions.
His Majesty considered that the level of local development reflects the progress of “Ascending and Solidarity Morocco,” highlighting that combating spatial disparities is not a temporary slogan, but a strategic direction that must be adhered to in the long term.
At the conclusion of his speech, King Mohammed VI called for the acceleration of the implementation of local development programs, especially in the fields of employment, health, and education, with attention to vulnerable areas, particularly mountains and oases, and the optimal activation of sustainable development principles along the national coasts, reaffirming the kingdom’s commitment to the path of a “balanced and integrated Morocco.”
