Italian Report: Morocco Becomes a Regional Hub for Clean Energy Connecting Europe and Africa
A report published by the Italian newspaper “La Ragione” reveals that Morocco is at the heart of the global transition to clean energy, thanks to a national strategy that blends environmental ambition with smart investment, positioning it as a key link between Europe and Africa.
The report highlights that the kingdom is not only developing major solar and wind energy projects but is also moving towards utilizing its marine resources within a comprehensive green vision, making sustainability both an economic and diplomatic choice.
According to the same source, Morocco aims to cover over half of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030, relying on massive projects like the “Noor Midelt 2 and 3” plants and advanced investments in electricity storage and energy infrastructure.
The report also addressed Morocco’s efforts in developing green hydrogen, seen as a future bet in the energy mix, noting the allocation of over one million hectares for production projects, under a strategy based on “Power to X” technology, solidifying Morocco’s position as a primary source of green energy to European markets.
The source added that Morocco’s success in merging innovation with environmental planning has made it a pivotal player in the region’s energy landscape, as its strategy combines economic viability with a geographical location that enhances its status as a reliable partner for Europe in energy security.
