Hicham Belaiwi Welcomes the Mauritanian Minister of Justice to Enhance Judicial Cooperation Between Morocco and Mauritania

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Hicham Belaiwi, the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation and Head of the Public Prosecution, received Mr. Mohamed Ould Soueidat, the Minister of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from the Mauritanian justice sector, at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Rabat.

This visit provided an opportunity to showcase the experience of the Public Prosecution in the Kingdom of Morocco regarding the independence of the judicial authority and the mechanisms for managing the work of public prosecutors, in addition to the efforts made to establish principles of governance and transparency in judicial affairs.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in the field of justice, including enhancing the exchange of expertise and best practices in criminal justice.

The Mauritanian Minister of Justice praised the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and Mauritania and the advanced level of the Moroccan judicial experience, expressing his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation between the two judicial institutions.

Both parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to reinforce judicial cooperation between the two countries, thereby enhancing the exchange of experiences and advancing the justice system in the region.
