Education Takes Center Stage at the Opening of the First Session of the Autumn Parliamentary Session
The House of Representatives is set to open its first session of the autumn session today, Monday, at 3 PM. This comes against a backdrop of political and social unrest characterized by increasing protests from what is known as “Generation Z,” which have sparked a broad debate surrounding the performance of the educational system and the quality of public schools and Moroccan universities. Consequently, the issue of education has topped the agenda.
The session agenda includes 35 questions, 20 of which are directed to the Minister of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports, and the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, reflecting the growing societal pressure and the expectations of students and parents for clarifications about ongoing reforms.
The Minister of National Education is expected to face a series of questions concerning the 2025-2026 school year, the challenges observed in some regions, the state of educational institutions in rural areas, and the upgrading of schools. Questions will also be raised about the decision to set a maximum age of 30 for entering teaching professions, in addition to issues regarding elite schools.
Regarding higher education, nine topics will be addressed, focusing on ensuring the quality of the upcoming university year and expediting the approval of the new framework for employees.
