Central Africa: $8 Million Mobilized to Support General Elections on December 28
The Central African government has announced the allocation of $8 million to support the organization of the presidential, legislative, and local elections scheduled for December 28, 2025.
In this context, Minister of Finance and Budget, Hervé Ndoba, signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for funding of $4.7 million directed to the joint electoral fund, primarily aimed at providing necessary logistical support to ensure the smooth running of the electoral process.
The minister explained that this amount constitutes the first phase of the government’s commitment, affirming that total support will reach $8 million, with additional disbursements planned in the coming days. He also noted ongoing consultations with the UNDP to ensure transparent and coordinated management of the funds allocated for the electoral process.
This step comes on the heels of the official announcement by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra calling for the electorate, confirming that the general elections will take place as scheduled on December 28, marking a crucial political moment for the country’s future.
