Heavy thunderstorms in the town of Al-Harawi, located in the Nador region, caused sudden flooding on Friday night, paralyzing traffic as water inundated several neighborhoods and streets. This led to citizens being trapped in their vehicles, prompting immediate intervention from local authorities and civil protection teams.
Local sources confirmed that rescue teams successfully evacuated several individuals who were stuck in their cars due to rising water levels on major roads. Meanwhile, authorities launched field operations to clear access roads and clean drainage systems that were damaged by the floods.
The flooding caused material damage to numerous homes and vehicles, and temporarily disrupted traffic on the road linking Al-Harawi to Selwan due to large accumulations of water and mud. This has raised concerns among residents, who expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate infrastructure and the recurrence of such incidents with every heavy rainfall.
Since Friday evening, the region has been experiencing severe weather accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain, which contributed to rising water levels in low-lying areas. Civil protection teams continue to work to secure the affected areas and monitor the weather situation.
