In the context of the dynamic activities taking place in the national sports arena in preparation for Morocco’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the World Cup 2030, the city of Agadir will host a distinguished intellectual and scientific meeting on Saturday, October 11. This event will gather a select group of journalists, researchers, and experts to discuss “Major Sports Events: Opportunities for Development and Their Positive Impact on Society and Economy, with the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and World Cup 2030 as Case Studies.”
This initiative is organized by the Moroccan Sports Journalists Association in Agadir, in partnership with the regional press club and the municipality of Agadir. The meeting will take place in the meeting room of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, starting at 10 AM.
Dr. Abderrahim Gharib, a professor and researcher in sports governance at Hassan II University, will lead the discussion, providing in-depth analysis on the role of major sports events in driving economic and social development, creating new investment opportunities, and enhancing the local marketing of Moroccan cities.
The meeting is expected to serve as a platform for dialogue and interaction among media, economic, and social actors in the Souss-Massa region, exploring ways to leverage major sports events as a genuine catalyst for sustainable development, especially in Agadir, which is witnessing a surge in sports and tourism infrastructure projects in preparation for the upcoming football events.
