Anwar Maghinia, coach of the Moroccan women’s U-17 national team, stated that the defeat against Brazil in the opening match of the World Cup is merely a first step in a long journey towards development and excellence, noting that the 3-0 loss does not fully reflect the performance the players showed on the field.
Maghinia, in media statements following the match held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, emphasized that the team demonstrated several positive indicators that can be built upon in upcoming matches, highlighting that the squad possesses the technical and skillful attributes necessary for improved performances in future games.
The national coach remarked:
“The players are still young, and while this is not an excuse, it is a factor to consider, especially since they put in significant effort throughout the ninety minutes and displayed a high fighting spirit despite the strength of the opponent.”
Maghinia added that the objective for the next match against the Italian team is to deliver a strong performance and capitalize on every opportunity to achieve a positive result that restores confidence among the national elements, affirming that the spirit of challenge is present and the determination strong to compensate for the initial loss.
He concluded his remarks by asserting that the Moroccan team will present a different image in the upcoming encounters, indicating that the defeat against Brazil will serve as an additional motivation to continue working and exert more effort to achieve commendable results that reflect the reputation of Moroccan women’s football.
