Lamine Yamal has won the “Kopa” award for Best Young Player in the World during the Ballon d’Or ceremony held in France.
Yamal triumphed over Desiree Doué and João Neves, both of Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Estivao, who transferred from Palmeiras to Chelsea, and Kenan Yildiz from Juventus.
After receiving the award, Yamal said, “It is a great honor to be here again, and I thank FC Barcelona and my family. I cannot forget my teammates.”
He added, “I am happy to have reached this point and I hope to continue working and collecting more awards.”
The award was presented by retired defender Raphaël Varane, a four-time UEFA Champions League champion with Real Madrid and a World Cup winner with France.
