Russia’s copper exports to Morocco have surged by 85% as part of a strategy to enhance added value, announced the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov. He highlighted a notable growth in Russia’s foreign trade with several international markets during this year.

This announcement came during the Eastern Economic Forum for 2025, where the minister noted that “international markets are showing increasing interest in a wide range of Russian products, including metals, chemicals, fertilizers, machinery, equipment, and agricultural and wooden products.”

Alikhanov emphasized key trends in Russian exports, indicating that Turkish demand for Russian copper has risen by 166%. Additionally, exports of mechanical engineering products grew by 20% to China, 196% to Saudi Arabia, and 78% to India.

In this context, the minister pointed out that shipments of copper to Morocco have experienced an 85% increase, while sales of Russian aluminum to the Brazilian market have doubled during the same period.

Alikhanov confirmed that Russia’s long-term trade strategy focuses on enhancing exports with added value, stating, “We aspire to increase the share of technological products within our total external sales, which is one of the key pillars for developing Russian trade globally.”
