The Ministry of Interior has suspended the head of the Inzegan Aït Melloul district, Ismail Abou Al-Houqouq, from his duties and reassigned him to the ministry without a specific role, following the results of an investigation by a three-member committee that recently visited the district headquarters.
The inquiry revealed the existence of real estate files and local investments that sparked controversy, accompanied by suspicions of influence peddling and conflicts of interest. Among the most notable cases is a property designated for an educational institution that was suspiciously converted into a large commercial project.
The property, spanning over 4,600 square meters, was initially sold at a low price and later resold to a new company connected to powerful figures, with modifications made to the development plan that granted an extended construction permit, exceeding the previously allowed number of floors.
