The League and the Federation Launch a Charter of Commitment and Ethics to Strengthen Club Governance

- in Sports

The National Professional Football League, in coordination with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, is set to launch a Charter of Commitment and Ethics next Thursday at the federation’s headquarters in Rabat. The event will be attended by Fouzi Lekjaer, the federation’s president, along with leaders of sports companies and associations.

This charter is anticipated to mark a turning point in the reform of national football, as it holds club presidents fully financially and administratively accountable, not just during their term but also after its conclusion, whether due to the end of their mandate, resignation, or dismissal. It mandates continuity in management to prevent any administrative or financial void upon the departure of officials.

The new charter emphasizes that presidents are personally and collectively responsible for all commitments, particularly financial ones, made during their term, enforcing strict financial transparency rules and imposing disciplinary penalties that could lead to dismissal or suspension for violations of regulations.

It also underscores that outgoing presidents remain responsible for the legality and transparency of contracts they signed, even if their validity extends beyond their departure from office, mandating successors to uphold the obligations of previous clubs.

Through this charter, the federation and the league aim to restore trust and discipline within the national football system and establish professional standards that align with the dynamics of the kingdom.
