Shaima, a 23-year-old from the Berrechid area, recently obtained her high school diploma from a humble rural background and began sharing her daily struggles candidly and unfiltered on TikTok. In no time, she found herself surrounded by thousands of followers captivated by her authenticity and simplicity.
However, this sudden popularity did not go unnoticed by networks specializing in exploiting “new influencers,” leading to opportunities for her to travel to the UAE and Korea, even providing her with residency papers in the UAE. Thus, her story quickly transformed from “the donkey to the airplane,” turning from a rural girl into a rising star in the money-laden world of TikTok.
The Entry of “Ashraf”… From Filter to Shock
In the midst of this whirlwind, Ashraf, a young Moroccan residing in Belgium, appeared on the scene. It began with him sending 5,000 dirhams via TikTok, followed by private messages, and just a week later, he proposed marriage. For Shaima, who had never left her small world before, Ashraf appeared in TikTok videos as a handsome man adorned with filters, showering her with virtual gifts; most notably, “27 lions” in one night, valued at 135,000 dirhams.
However, during their first meeting in Rabat, where Ashraf insisted on having the marriage contract there instead of visiting her family, the shock set in. The true unfiltered image did not resemble the dream prince on screen at all. Nonetheless, the marriage contract was drawn up, with expenses paid by Shaima from her “TikTok lions.”
The Wedding Night Turns into a Nightmare
According to statements from Shaima and her mother to the association that took on her case, the first night turned into a nightmare. Shaima accused her husband of full rape using handcuffs and employing a set of sex toys he brought from France, which caused her severe bleeding. Worse still, she claims she was shocked to discover that Ashraf was filming her and sending videos to his friends.
From Marriage Promises to Legal Complaints
The situation did not stop there. The association filed a complaint with the Court of Appeal, accusing Ashraf of:
- Rape.
- Marriage without a dowry.
- Fraud using a ring worth no more than 2,000 dirhams, which he presented as a diamond before the notaries.
