The French amphibious helicopter carrier “Tonnerre” docked in Casablanca on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as part of the close military cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic.
The visit lasted four days and included joint activities between the Royal Moroccan Navy and the French National Navy, featuring technical presentations, reciprocal visits, and a friendly football match between the two crews.
A formal reception was held on board the ship, presided over by the French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Le Cortre, and Captain Arnaud Paoli, in the presence of high-ranking Moroccan officials alongside military and civilian figures.
The visit also witnessed interactive meetings that brought together members of the Royal Naval School with their French counterparts in a framework of experience exchange and openness to complementary training initiatives.
“Tonnerre” hosts an academy that accommodates the 2025 batch of the regional digital navy training program “SIREN,” with participants from several countries, including Morocco, aimed at developing competencies in maritime security.
This event reflects the depth of partnership between the Royal Armed Forces and their French counterparts, showcasing both countries’ commitment to strengthening maritime collaboration for regional security and stability.
