The city of Frankfurt hosted the inaugural strategic forum for the Moroccan-German competencies network on Saturday, under the theme: “The Moroccan-German Competencies Network: An Institutional Mechanism for Effective Contribution to National Development.”

The forum brought together institutional officials, civil society actors, business leaders, and academics from Morocco, Germany, and Europe, aiming to enhance partnerships and broaden the horizons of Moroccan-German cooperation.

The sessions were dedicated to discussing the network’s role in sustainable development in Morocco, with a focus on the contributions of Moroccan competencies residing abroad. Rafia Mansouri, the Deputy President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, participated in the dialogue sessions on building partnerships and innovative initiatives between the region and the network.

The sessions were attended by the Kingdom’s Consul General in Frankfurt, Khalifa Ait Chaib, along with the network’s president, Mohamed Al-Karz, and Moroccan officials from public institutions, including Zubaydah Al-Saqat and Ali Mahrez.

The opening session featured a speech by the Minister Delegate for Investment, Karim Zidan, who highlighted the crucial role of Moroccans living abroad in investment and economic growth, emphasizing that their contributions extend beyond financial remittances to include expertise, knowledge, and professional networks.

Leo Baghnak, project manager for “Pomir” at the German Agency for International Cooperation, presented the project’s programs aimed at enhancing the contribution of migration to economic and social development, with a particular focus on the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. He also addressed the support for the integration of Moroccans residing abroad and migrants, as well as promoting innovation in local projects.

The forum discussed ongoing projects and future plans, highlighting the role of Moroccans abroad and international partners in advancing socio-economic development in Morocco through experience exchange and institutional integration.
