Ryanair to Mandate Digital Boarding Passes Starting November… Morocco Exempted

Starting from November 3, 2025, the low-cost airline Ryanair will require all passengers to use digital boarding passes through its mobile application. This move aims to reduce reliance on printed copies, lower airport check-in costs, and decrease the company’s carbon footprint.

The airline’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, noted that between 85% and 90% of passengers use smartphones, making the adoption of this technology a natural choice.

However, Morocco will remain an exception, as Moroccan authorities require travelers to possess a printed boarding pass. This means that passengers departing from Moroccan airports will still need to print their passes even after the new policy comes into effect.

The company confirmed that passengers unable to access their digital boarding passes due to phone malfunctions or dead batteries can approach check-in counters to obtain a free printed copy.

This exemption raises questions about the transition of the aviation sector towards digitization and the need for greater coordination among countries, especially as Ryanair seeks to offer a smoother travel experience through digital solutions.
