On Tuesday, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, Mr. Younes Skouri, participated in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in the inaugural meeting of the Executive Council of the Employment Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which serves as a crucial platform for enhancing cooperation among member states in the fields of employment and labor.

This Moroccan participation aligns with the Kingdom’s ongoing support for OIC initiatives, as the minister reiterated Morocco’s commitment to actively contribute to the center’s operations and to share national expertise, particularly in vocational training and employment policies.

The meeting, attended by labor ministers of member countries, offered an opportunity to strengthen multilateral cooperation mechanisms and to highlight the Moroccan experience in serving youth and promoting joint development through innovative programs aimed at professional integration and enhancing the competitiveness of national economies.

During the meeting, Minister Younes Skouri held bilateral discussions with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Mr. Anar Rahimoglu Aliyev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. They explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as social protection, vocational training, labor code reform, and social dialogue.

The Moroccan minister also showcased several major projects and reforms initiated by Morocco, including the effort to broaden social protection, the Cities of Professions and Skills initiative, and the investment dynamic observed in the national economy.

In a speech during the international roundtable organized by the Employment Center of the OIC and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor on September 24, Skouri called for a rethinking of social policies to keep pace with the profound changes in the labor market. He emphasized Morocco’s experience in youth integration, particularly among the uneducated and inactive groups, and highlighted vocational training programs that facilitate the alignment of competencies with the actual needs of the labor market.

This participation reflects Morocco’s commitment to supporting collaborative Islamic efforts and underscores its role as a key partner in initiatives aimed at enhancing employment and development in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, through tangible initiatives that place youth at the core of public policies.
