Morocco Signs Strategic Partnership with Mistral AI to Enhance Its Leadership in Artificial Intelligence
On Friday, September 12, 2025, in Rabat, the Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal Al-Falih Al-Sghroshni, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Mistral AI, a leading European company in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, this partnership aligns with the royal vision to position Morocco as a regional platform for technological innovation and a key player in the field of artificial intelligence on an international scale.
The minister emphasized that the agreement aims to develop public services by integrating artificial intelligence solutions, facilitating the provision of innovative and effective services. She added that this step follows the initiatives discussed during the national conference on digital transformation last July.
Collaboration between Morocco and Mistral AI focuses on several key areas, including training local competencies, supporting applied research, encouraging the emergence of startups and industrial projects based on sovereign artificial intelligence solutions, as well as sharing expertise with Moroccan stakeholders. The agreement also highlights the importance of promoting responsible and ethical use of digital technologies to ensure personal data protection and build citizens’ trust.
This collaboration aims to enhance Morocco’s status as a regional and African reference platform in the field of digital innovation, combining digital sovereignty with openness to international partnerships.
The signing ceremony was attended by government ministers, including Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, alongside personalities, experts, and stakeholders in the digital field.
It is noteworthy that Mistral AI is known for developing high-performance open language models and adopts a philosophy based on transparency, technological robustness, and control over value chains, while promoting a European vision for artificial intelligence centered on cooperation, positive impact, and strengthening strategic autonomy.
