Morocco is preparing to host the fourth edition of the World Flamenco Conference, organized in partnership with the Spanish Embassy and the Cervantes Institute. The event will traverse eight Moroccan cities including Rabat, Fes, Tangier, Marrakech, Tetouan, Agadir, Casablanca, and for the first time, the city of Larache.
This edition’s programming combines traditional styles with innovative forms through 14 artistic performances featuring renowned stars alongside emerging talents. Notable highlights include:
- The performance De Barrios a Lorca, which blends flamenco with jazz and Latin rhythms, featuring Andrés Barrios and Carmen Young.
- The show Devenir, a musical journey from pre-flamenco roots to contemporary sounds, with Alejandro Hurtado and Patricia Guerrero.
- The presentation Sin más, performed by dancer Mercedes de Córdoba, embodying flamenco as a philosophy of life.
- A commemorative evening titled Recordando a Pepe Marchena, in memory of one of the icons of this art.
- The closing ceremony with the Andalusian flamenco ballet in the show Tierra Bendita, celebrating the spirit of Andalusia.
The conference is not limited to artistic aspects; it also aims to strengthen cultural ties between Morocco and Spain, highlighting their shared heritage and providing a platform for young talents in new regions like Larache, which is joining the event for the first time.
The event enjoys support from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, emphasizing its role as an international cultural showcase and a space for exchange between the two sides of the Mediterranean.
