The Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade, Mustafa Tuzcu, on a working visit to Morocco accompanied by a significant private sector delegation, asserted that Morocco and Turkey possess vast potential to continue enhancing their economic cooperation.

Tuzcu highlighted, during a meeting between private sector economic actors from Turkey and their Moroccan counterparts, attended by the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hajira, the strong economic ties between the two countries in key sectors such as industry and agriculture. He deemed this dynamic to provide enormous opportunities for development and the establishment of a deep strategic partnership.

For his part, Hajira emphasized the necessity of developing cooperation in foreign trade and investment, particularly underlining the enhancement of Moroccan exports to the Turkish market.

After emphasizing the significance of fostering Turkish investments in Morocco, which supports the dynamism of bilateral economic relations, Hajira noted that the prospects for developing trade exchanges between Morocco and Turkey are promising. He added that both countries are committed to diversifying and intensifying their trade transactions.

Hajira mentioned that this dynamic aims to make the Moroccan-Turkish trade partnership a solid foundation for achieving shared and sustainable growth beneficial to the economies of both countries. Tuzcu’s visit to Morocco, leading a delegation comprising more than 20 companies representing various sectors of the Turkish economy, follows the joint declaration issued last June, marking a new phase that embodies both countries’ commitment to an equitable and sustainable economic alliance.

This visit reflects the validity of the joint approach and the noticeable interest of investors from both countries in exploring mutually beneficial investment opportunities, as well as avenues for enhancing cooperation in priority sectors.

On this occasion, it was also agreed to explore new opportunities between private sector actors from both nations in high-potential sectors and to encourage Turkish businesses to invest in Morocco, including in the textile sector, which will enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan enterprises and facilitate their access to global markets.

The two parties also agreed to intensify exchanges among economic actors through the organization of business forums, bilateral meetings, and exhibitions to enhance trade exchanges under a win-win approach across various sectors, especially renewable energy, the automotive industry and its components, agricultural products, fisheries, aviation, food production, construction, building materials, pharmaceuticals, and modern technologies.

In this context, it was decided to hold a business forum in Istanbul in mid-November, aiming to translate this cooperation into practical projects serving the economic development and interests of both countries.

The two sides agreed to expand preferential access for Moroccan agricultural products to the Turkish market, emphasizing the importance of the free trade agreement between Morocco and Turkey, as well as the establishment of a joint working group tasked with identifying the relevant products.
