Morocco and Rwanda Strengthen Their Cooperation in Prison Management
On Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, Mohamed Saleh Tamk, the Director General of Prison Administration and Reintegration, received Evariste Murenzi, the General Commissioner of Prisons in the Republic of Rwanda, at the headquarters of the General Delegation in Rabat, accompanied by his country’s ambassador to Morocco.
During this meeting, perspectives on the existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of prison management were exchanged, culminating in the signing of a new memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of training personnel and managing correctional institutions, with special emphasis on high-risk inmates. The agreement also includes the exchange of best practices in governance and the reintegration of prisoners post-release.
This visit, lasting two days, is part of a direct look into the Moroccan experience in this field. Murenzi will visit the National Center for Personnel Training affiliated with the General Delegation, as well as the local prison institutions in Tamesna and Tiflet 2, to observe training mechanisms and management methods of the correctional facilities.
