Moroccan Tourism: Record Growth of 15% and a Strategy with Vision Towards 2030
The Moroccan tourism sector has recorded unprecedented performance, welcoming 13.5 million visitors by the end of August 2025, an increase of 15% compared to 2024. Revenue from foreign currency reached 67 billion dirhams by the end of July, marking a 13% rise, which is three times the global average estimated at 5% according to the World Tourism Organization.
In this context, Fatima Zahra Amour, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy, and Solidarity, chaired a work meeting on Tuesday in Rabat with the National Confederation of Tourism. The meeting focused on evaluating achievements and setting priorities in preparation for upcoming events, particularly the 2030 World Cup.
The minister emphasized that these results were made possible by the government strategy under the high royal leadership, through an emergency plan worth 2 billion dirhams and a roadmap for 2023-2026, allocated 6 billion dirhams, which contributed to enhancing air connectivity and implementing structural programs like Cap Hospitality, Go Siyaha, and Kafaa.
Amour stated, “Our priorities today are clear: to continue the growth momentum and to make operational excellence and equitable spatial governance the two main pillars of our tourism strategy.”
For his part, Hamid Ben Taher, President of the National Confederation of Tourism, praised the positive outcomes and the spirit of teamwork prevailing in the sector, stressing, “We fully share these priorities and seek more boldness to prepare for the future by investing more in continuous training and skill development, so that we elevate Moroccan tourism to higher levels.”
New Roadmap 2027-2030
The ministry announced the launch of a workshop for preparing the 2027-2030 roadmap starting in October 2025, in consultation with industry stakeholders, aimed at anticipating major international events and strengthening the growth trajectory. Sectoral meetings will be organized with each professional federation to identify priority actions and expedite their implementation.
This new plan will focus on achieving balanced tourism development across all regions of the kingdom, ensuring the creation of sustainable job opportunities and the valorization of Moroccan regional heritage.
The meeting was attended by institutional officials and industry players, including Mohamed Maslak, the Secretary General of the ministry, Ashraf Faida, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourism Office, Imad Berqad, Director General of the Moroccan Company for Tourism Engineering, alongside the presidents of professional federations and regional tourism councils.
