Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd has officially joined Olympique de Marseille on a contract that extends until the summer of 2030. He moves from English club West Ham United in a deal valued at approximately 23 million euros.
The transfer was facilitated by Mehdi Benatia, the sporting director of the French club, who eased the player’s move after Aguerd expressed a clear desire to leave and was absent from recent matches for West Ham.
Aguerd returns to Ligue 1, having previously played for several clubs before his transfer to England. He hopes to showcase his talents with Marseille and prove his worth in the French league ahead of upcoming international commitments with the Moroccan national team.
Aguerd is seen as a significant addition to the defense, given his impressive physical and technical abilities, along with his international experience with the Moroccan team, making him one of the key players in the French squad for the upcoming seasons.
