Marina Bouregreg Expands: New Recreational Project Enhances the Appeal of Rabat and Salé Banks

The Bouregreg River Banks Development Agency has launched the first phase of the expansion project for the Rabat–Salé Marina by initiating technical and architectural studies to create a new recreational basin, expected to be built opposite the Oudayas Kasbah. This move aims to re-purpose the riverside into a vibrant urban space.

According to available information, a specialized consulting firm has been selected to create the designs and necessary artistic concepts for this project, which is part of the agency’s strategy to develop open spaces and transform the banks of the Bouregreg River into a comprehensive cultural and tourism hub.

The new basin, set within the natural extension of the Bouregreg Marina, is expected to enhance the area’s appeal by offering new recreational and maritime services, which will increase the site’s capacity and stimulate investment in activities related to tourism, water sports, restaurants, and services.

In this context, this project aligns with the urban dynamics that the capital and its surroundings are experiencing, especially with the rise of large projects aimed at improving the quality of life and diversifying the leisure and cultural offerings, including the development of green spaces, enhancing river transport, and connecting historic neighborhoods with modern facilities.

The marina’s expansion is anticipated to serve as an additional hub for attracting visitors and tourists, contributing to a regional balance between the banks of Rabat and Salé, through qualitative projects that integrate with existing cultural and heritage infrastructure, including the Oudayas Kasbah, Hassan Tower, and the Shala archaeological site.
