His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated and visited a series of major projects aimed at restructuring and developing the port complex of Casablanca today, Thursday, with the goal of enhancing the city’s economic and tourist status.

The projects, with a total investment of 5 billion dirhams, include:

  • New Fishing Port with an investment of 1.2 billion dirhams, capable of accommodating more than 260 traditional fishing boats and 100 coastal fishing vessels. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art fish market, three ice factories, waste management units, and a sailors’ house. This project improves the living and working conditions of the city’s fishermen and organizes the sector more effectively.

  • Ship Repair Yard with an investment of 2.5 billion dirhams, featuring a dry dock measuring 240 meters to receive vessels up to 220 meters long, a platform for lifting ships with a capacity of 9,700 tons, alongside docks extending 660 meters and areas prepared for maritime activities covering 21 hectares. The yard aims to develop a national shipbuilding industry and attract investments.

  • New Cruise Terminal at a cost of 720 million dirhams, designed to accommodate 450,000 passengers annually and equipped to receive ships up to 350 meters long. This includes the construction of a 650-meter-long disembarkation pier, passenger bridges, and a parking garage for 44 buses to enhance the city’s tourist appeal.

  • New Administrative Complex with an investment of 500 million dirhams, which houses all stakeholders involved in the Casablanca port, aiming to improve service quality and integrate the port into its urban environment by consolidating previously dispersed services.

These projects form part of a comprehensive strategy to restructure the Moroccan port landscape, following the successful experience of the Tangier-Med Port and align with other national ports to bolster the kingdom’s international competitiveness.

These initiatives will contribute to diversifying port activities and enhancing operational efficiency, support the economic development of the region by creating new job opportunities, strengthen the city’s tourist potential, and improve the quality of services provided to port users, in line with His Majesty’s vision for advancing national infrastructure and achieving sustainable economic growth.
