Major Drug Trafficking Operation Foiled; 5 Tons of Hashish Seized on the Coasts of Tan-Tan
The Gendarmerie forces in Guelmim successfully thwarted a major operation linked to international drug trafficking on Wednesday, in close coordination with various security agencies.
According to media reports, this significant operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 5 tons of hashish, along with an inflatable boat equipped with a marine engine and a range of equipment used for navigating maritime routes.
The operation was carried out at the mouth of the Draâ River in the Ben Khalil area of Tan-Tan Province, where security coordination helped tighten the noose around criminal networks involved in smuggling people and illicit goods by sea.
Two individuals suspected of direct involvement in this network were arrested, while field investigations continue under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to identify all potential extensions and connections related to these illegal activities.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Gendarmerie forces in Guelmim to combat organized crime networks and enhance coastal protection against the threats of smuggling and international drug trafficking.
